The SPCA St. John’s Paws on the Pond is our signature event and the largest fundraising event of the year. For the month of August, hundreds of people will walk with their companion animals, family, and friends to raise funds for animals in need. Our goal for 2024 is to raise $18,000. With your support, we can achieve this! All funds raised in your community will support the SPCA St. John’s animal care, medical care, and adoption programs. Your support will help strengthen our communities, improve animal lives, and inspire giving. Like you, the SPCA St. John’s believes animals in need of care and protection across our province deserve all the support we, as a community, can give.
So lace up your sneakers, grab the kids, grab the dog or cat, and whoever else during the month of August and start walking for animals in need.  Join us on Saturday, August 24th from 10am to 2pm at Quidi Vidi for a group walk around the lake!
Did you know your pet requires anywhere from 20 to 60 minutes of walking a day! Smaller sized dogs like Pugs, Poms, and Shih Tzus need at least 30 minutes a day. While medium sized dogs like Beagles, Terriers, and Pointers need at least 45 minutes a day. Larger sized and high energy dogs like Boarder Collies, Labradors, and Golden Retrievers need at least 60 minutes a day. We can’t forget about the kitties in your home, your house cats will need at least 30 minutes of continuous activity a day, and the high energy Bengal will need at least 60 minutes a day.
So this August, tap into your inner Shih Tzu, Beagle, Husky, or Bengal and pledge to exercise as much as your animals need!
