The CanFel Foundation has been a wonderful supporter of SPCA St. John’s since 2018.  With the help of their generous grants we are able to continue to offer such programs as our Preventing Unwanted Pets (PUP) Program.

The CanFel Foundation is a registered charity designated as a public foundation. It was established and generously funded by the late Sandra Bond in support of animal welfare.

Sandra Bond was a businesswoman who made her home in Guelph, Ontario. She was an early and passionate advocate for animal welfare; she particularly supported programs designed to instill humane values in children, and spay and neuter programs designed to reduce the number of unwanted companion animals.

It is through the continued support of the United Way NL, that we are able to we are able to help our community through such programs as our Pet Safekeeping Program.

This program was designed to help pet owners in our community who are in the unthinkable position of not being able to care for their pets, as they need to put their care first.  These situations could involve intimate partner violence, and extended facility stay for mental health issues, or homelessness.  Through this program we provide the peace of mind that their pets are being taken care of, while they take care of themselves.

United Way is a federated network of over 80 local United Way Centraide offices serving more than 5,000 communities across Canada, each registered as its own non-profit organization and governed by an independent volunteer-led local Board of Directors. Locally and nationally, our goal is the same – to create opportunities for a better life for everyone in our communities.  With a strong heritage, we value trust and integrity, volunteerism, innovation, partnership, non-partisan leadership, and diversity. It is on the basis of these values that we improve lives and build communities.

As an Adoption Partner with PetSmart Charities, we are fortunate to receive funds for the care of our shelter animals.  With these funds we are able to provide the necessary medical attention to all our adoptable pets.

All animals put up for adoption through our shelter or at our local Pet Smart locations have been vet checked, vaccinated, flea and worm treated, spayed or neutered, microchipped and FIV/FELV tested.

These funds also help with the cost of necessary medical treatments, such as dental surgeries, allergy medications, and monitoring of skin conditions.

Through their continued support we are able to ensure our animals are healthy and comfortable.
